Content Warnings: Entomophobia, body horror, parasites, labor exploitation

The Burning of Carbex is a 84-page three-act campaign compatible with the Mothership Sci-Fi Horror Roleplaying Game. A malevolent alien parasite has been freed and seeks to spread its corrupting influence far and wide.

Carbex was once covered in lush forests, before the fire. Everything burned, except for some silverfish-like insects who fled underground. Millenia later, coal miners break into their refuge.

About a week later, you are contacted by a nearby law enforcement agency. The Angelus Fabrica Station orbiting Carbex issued an automated distress signal after deploying every escape pod. 4 days of communication attempts without response met the persistent distress signal. The agency offers you a decent sum to determine the complete evacuation’s rationale and to rescue and assist, by any means necessary any remaining crew members. The Angelus Fabrica is a disaster, most of its residents having been killed or altered by the strange transformations these parasites affect in their hosts, The Creeping Perforation.

Meanwhile, another disaster is careening towards a much larger population, the Sineto Chem Solutions Deep Space Factory. On Carbex, deep within Sediment Hill coal mine, the parasites have coalesced horrifyingly and their minions are planning to spread across the stars.

  • 6 new enemies and a template to make any lifeform a monstrosity.
  • 3 locations to explore (A stricken refinery station, an overrun ship, and an infested coal mine.)
  • A new station, the Sineto Chem Solutions Deep Space Factory, to defend or add to any existing campaign
  • 20 Artifacts to find and use in your campaigns
  • A story branch that will affect the next chapter of the story depending on which you choose to pursue
  • Story hooks and opportunities for extended play

I ordered this module through Tuesday Knight Games in February. The physical copy I got was for 1e but the PDF they sent was for 0e. They suggested I reach out to you to possibly get the updated 1e PDF? Either way, cool module, excited to run it eventually!

Hey, thanks for picking up my book! Unfortunately, this is the worst place to reach me if you need files. However, I will add some community copies, please grab one for the updated PDFs.

🙌🏼 thank you!

I was thinking of picking this up but I like to print sections of the books I get while running. Is there any chance of making a printer-friendly version available? Thanks!

I'll have to get back to you on this

I bought it anyway. I appreciate you considering this option. Nice Work!!

Thank you!

Hey, just wanted to let you know that I've finally been able to get to BoC (got a long backlist of MoSh modules I've slowly been cranking thru), and I think it's some pretty stellar stuff. I was wanting to run one of the pamphlet modules as an introductory one-shot for my group with the ideal goal of transitioning to a full-blown campaign. However, now I'm real tempted to run this one instead as an introductory multi-shot given that the setting, narrative, and individual encounters are way more fleshed out in comparison. I'm hopeful that BoC will present a far better case at convincing my players to stick with the system (from what I've gauged, I'm not too sure they're entirely on board with making the switch from high fantasy to sci-fi horror) - so thanks for taking the time to put this one together and making my job way easier, especially as someone relatively new to GMing!!

Btw, I was looking at the KS campaign for this module, and I was wondering if you have any physical copies of the artbook leftover, or at least are willing to provide the PDF. I'm a big sucker for artwork, and I think what's presented in the book is phenomenal! Willing to pay for either/or if possible. Thanks in advance!

Thank you so much! I tried to add in some "Okay, we're done with this now" points if players aren't into it but I hope your game goes well.

Unfortunately, the artbook was part of the Kickstarter only. Sorry!

Thanks for getting back to me so promptly, and I completely understand about the artbook - no worries there. Can't wait to see what's in store in The House Always Wins!

Hey! Just following up on this, did you get a chance to run?
